Playwright John Henry, director Rick Davis, and a cast of dozens will present the DC premiere of a world-historical drama torn from the pages of early Judeo–Christian storytelling about the creation of humanity and the role of the Deity. First-time playwright John Henry presents a startling revision of the usual Old Testament stories, with a pronounced feminist twist, turning them on their heads. Henry casts a skeptical eye at tales of how “empires” are built by “good guys” who believe they have the moral right to use military force against “bad guys.” And he tackles the issues posed by the inevitable conflict between power and justice, and bares the malign and corrosive force of a “Chosen People” view of our own nation. In 2003, Henry founded the Committee for the Republic (and the Empire Salon).

PRICE: $30 Members; $40 Non-members (includes light snacks). Cash Bar.
