Mind-Body approaches and mindfulness, which have proved so useful in relieving stress and preventing illness, have the capacity to transform political discourse and restore cooperation, compassion and civility to our public as well as our private lives. In this panel discussion,
Congressman Tim Ryan, (D-OH 13), Chairman of the Military Mental Health Caucus and who was recently profiled on 60 Minutes and hailed by Time Magazine as a “rock star” among the mindfulness evangelicals, will offer his personal insights on the benefits of Mind-Body practices in politics and social programs.
Dr. Jim Gordon, the Founder and Director of The Center for Mind-Body Medicine, a clinical professor of psychiatry at Georgetown Medical School and a former chair of the White House Commission on Complementary and Alternative Medicine Policy, will discuss the use of Mind-Body Medicine to enhance health, address violence and fear, and heal population-wide psychological trauma.
Licensed Social Workers and Certified by The Center for Mind-Body Medicine, Fran Zamore and Michael Shea will offer clinical case studies on the benefits of Mind-Body Skills Groups. The program will provide the audience with an understanding of how and why Mind-Body practices have been so successful.
