WNDC presents the first event of the environmental series: Earth in Crisis CATALYST FOR CHANGE: Series Launch with Erich Pica, president of Friends of the Earth. Mr. Pica is a nationally recognized expert on energy subsidies who for more than a decade has worked to reform U.S. tax and budget policy in ways that reduce pollution and spark a transition to clean energy.
“Earth in Crisis” is a year-long series covering topics such as Stewardship, In Our Backyard, Sustainability for the Future, and Getting Involved. Why is WNDC having an environmental series?
1) We are living on a severely wounded planet that needs major restoration. That restoration must come from us — we who are both the agents most responsible for the damage that has occurred and, at the same time, the agents most responsible for healing the planet through our actions to reduce the problem: the excessive emissions of carbon and green house gases,
2) The majority of the Republican candidates and their constituencies deny the science and the responsibility of our species for creating the damage. This denial becomes an increasingly pressing issue for the 2016 elections.
