Art Exhibit: Art by Brikena Boci and Jane Doe #1. Upstairs Gallery “Anonime” (Anonymous), an exhibition of embroidered portraits by Albanian- American artist Brikena Boci, will be on view in the Upstairs Gallery from October 5 – November 30. This startling fibre art consists of moving embroidered portraits of Kosovar-Albanian women who were raped, killed, or trafficked during the war. Jane Doe #1, who wishes to remain anonymous and is featured in the documentary I AM JANE DOE, created her untitled painting while hospitalized for overwhelming depression and PTSD.

Film: The acclaimed documentary I AM JANE DOE tells the story of American mothers waging a battle on behalf of their teenage daughters who were victims of online sex trafficking on  Backpage.com. Narrated by Academy Award nominee Jessica Chastain and directed by award-winning filmmaker Mary Mazzio I AM JANE DOE presents a gut-wrenching look at an issue affecting every community in the United States and around the world. This event is being held in partnership with ArtWorks for Freedom | ACTION DC!, a city-wide arts festival, to raise awareness of human trafficking throughout the Washington, D.C. region.

TICKETS: $50 Members and Non-members; $30 for Young Dems (under 30). Ticket price includes hors d’oeuvres and a glass of wine.
