Spend an evening getting to know Ethel Skakel Kennedy, widow of Robert F. Kennedy
Rory Kennedy produced the documentary “Ethel” to tell an untold story and share a personal portrait of the remarkable life of her mother, Ethel—her political awakening, the life she shared with Robert F. Kennedy, and the years following his death when she raised their eleven children on her own. “Ethel” offers a rare look at Kennedy family home videos and pictures, which show Ethel teaching her children sports, establishing discipline and the laugh riot of Ethel’s escapades. She was irreverent, fearless and funny, devoted, competitive and free-spirited. Ethel talks bluntly about her experiences, beliefs and times of unspeakable grief, before gamely moving on. We see episodes of U.S. history, the pivotal 1950’s and 60’s era. Maeve McKean, the granddaughter of Ethel and daughter of former MD Lieutenant Governor Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, plans to attend film night.
