Sharing Our Voices: An Evening of Song, Dance, and Speeches

TIME: 6:00pm – Bar opens; 7:00pm – Program begins

Performances by Aleigha Mayo of the Howard University Dance Ensemble, singer-songwriter Kevin Marvelle, and the all-women social justice a cappella group SongRise, plus poetry by DC students and remarks by elected leaders and gun safety advocates, including VA Delegate Kathleen Murphy; Barbara Parker, advocate and mother of gun violence victim TV anchor Alison Parker; VA Tech alums Liz Hart and Sarah Saxton; Sandy Hook’s Sophie Ackert; Selene Betancourt, former UCSB student; and artist Krista Suh, creator of the Pussy Hats for the Women’s March and the evil eye gloves for the March For Our Lives. MC will be award-winning playwright-in-residence at Arena Stage Karen Zacarias.

PRICE: This event is FREE but registration is recommended; walk-ins welcome. Donations accepted. Cash bar.
