Gun Violence Reform – Teach-in Panel
Thursday, March 22, 2018 (Evening)
TIME: 6:00 pm – Bar opens; 6:30 pm – Panel, followed by letter writing
How can we as individuals and as a community come together to oppose gun violence?
Please join us for this teach-in panel on gun reform policy to learn: What does the evidence tell us are the best methods to stop gun violence? What should we say to effectively communicate our view on gun violence reform to advocate for change? Panelists will include leaders in gun reform policy and advocacy, Lauren Alfred, Policy Director at Sandy Hook Promise, and Josh Horwitz, Executive Director at the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence. They will teach us about the gun reform policy landscape, as well as strategies we can use to take direct action in our networks and with legislators to push for change.
Immediately following this panel, you will have the opportunity to put your advocacy knowledge to use by writing letters to legislators to push for gun reform. We will deliver the letters to legislative offices on Capitol Hill the following week.
PRICE: $20 Members, $25 Non- members, $10 Young Dems/students. Includes hors d’oeuvres. Cash bar.
