In Celebration of Black History Month — The Thriving Arts Scene in Anacostia

Join us for an exploration of the thriving arts scene in Anacostia, featuring Colin Hovde, producing artistic director of Theater Alliance, Resident Theater of the Anacostia Playhouse, and Lori Yarrish, director of the Smithsonian Institution’s Anacostia Community Museum. The discussion will be moderated by Camille Kashaka, director of the Anacostia Arts Center.

Hovde, who has run the Award-winning Theater Alliance since 2012, will talk about its focus on developing, producing, and presenting “socially conscious, thought-provoking work that fully engages our community in active dialogue.” Yarrish will talk about how the Community Museum brings together diverse people and perspectives to create a more tolerant, unified metropolitan museum.
