TIME: 7:00-9:00 P.M.
EVENT TYPE: Evening Reception
The Women Ambassadors Foundation and Howard University in conjunction with the Woman’s National Democratic Club and the African Union will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Women AmbassadorsConference on April 2 and 3, 2015. As then-First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton put it on the occasion of her Howard University Commencement address in 1998, “The Women Ambassadors Conference is one more example of Howard University pushing the envelope.”
The objectives of the conference are to honor the women ambassadors (of 176 ambassadors in post in Washington, only 20 are women) and to provide college students of the DC area with an overview of the hot-button issues in international affairs. Each panel is composed of a foreign diplomat, a professor, an NGO representative/expert and a U.S. government official in order to allow the students to see the same topic from various angles.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Security, Democracy, and Prosperity.”
