Medea Benjamin, co-founder of the women-led peace group CODEPINK and the human rights group Global Exchange, offers a comprehensive overview of the alliance between the United States and the Saudi Kingdom. From arms sales and the crushing of women’s and LGBTQ rights, to the Kingdom’s malign role in the counterrevolution against the Arab Spring, Benjamin marshals the evidence expertly to paint a damning portrait of a state that the U.S. media has portrayed for decades as a bastion of moderation in the Middle East. With extremism spreading across the globe, a reduced U.S. need for Saudi oil, and a thawing of U.S. relations with Iran, she claims the time is right for a re-evaluation of our close ties with the Saudi regime.
Author and Peace and Human Rights Activist Medea Benjamin will be introduced by Andy Shallal, owner of Busboys and Poets.
The book will be available for purchase and signing.
