Adam Ortiz serves as director for the Department of the Environment for Prince George’s County. Since his assignment in October 2012, the agency has piloted a public-private partnership to enhance local business participation in the County’s urban retrofit storm water program, generate more renewable energy, and increase community participation in sustainability programs. Under his leadership, Prince George’s County now ranks #1 in the Maryland for waste diversion and #2 in recycling. As a volunteer, Mr. Ortiz is a member of the Local Government Advisory Council to the EPA Administrator, a board member of the Chesapeake Bay Trust, has served as president of the Maryland Mayor’s Association (2009-2010) and chair of the Ports Town Development Corporation. He was born and raised in New York’s Hudson Valley and has a B.A. from Goucher College in Towson, Maryland.
