“Experts in authoritarianism advise to keep a list of things subtly changing around, so you’ll remember.” With this as backdrop, soon after Trump’s election, Amy Siskind began compiling a weekly list of actions by the new administration that were changing our taken-for-granted governmental norms. “The Weekly List” began small with only a few entries and was shared largely with friends. But “The List” soon went viral and now the weekly chronicles include more than a hundred items and are viewed by more than half a million persons each week.
Siskind’s weekly documentation has been compiled into a book, The List: A Week-by-Week Reckoning of Trump’s First Year. Join us to hear Amy Siskind, author and founder of The New Agenda Project, in conversation with Bonnie Erbé, host of PBS’ To the Contrary, to discuss the book, the origins of “The List,” and why it’s important to be able to “trace our way back to democracy” after Trump is out of power.
The book will be available for purchase and signing.
PRICE: $25 Members; $30 Non-members (includes lunch); $15 Young Dems; $10 Lecture only.
