The WNDC and Bernice Sandler’s Daughters invite you to a Celebration of the Life and Legacy of Bernice “Bunny” Sandler, the Godmother of Title IX. All who wish to honor Bernice’s life and landmark work are welcome! Because of limited space, please RSVP right away.

To continue Bernice Sandler’s work and legacy, please feel free to make a donation in her name to the American Civil Liberties Union, Emily’s List, the National Women’s Law Center, Planned Parenthood, Supermajority, or the WNDC Educational Foundation.

Everyone is invited to stay after the program to watch the first Democratic Presidential Debate.

Bernice’s Legacy:

  • First Congressional testimony on sex discrimination in education – Prepared Rep. Edith Green’s 1970 hearings
  • In 1970, discovered Executive Order prohibiting discrimination against female college employees, filing 250+ complaints
  • First to focus on campus sexual harassment, date rape, the chilly classroom climate, and peer harassment
  • The Janie Appleseed of Title IX, giving more than 2,500 speeches, being an expert witness, and writing countless papers and articles
  • Avid birder who twinkled as she described her birding adventures
  • Loving mother, grandmother, cousin, and aunt – and mentor extraordinaire
