The Club is fortunate to welcome back Diana Owen who is in Washington to promote the 400th Anniversary of the Bard’s death in 1616. While Shakespeare’s birthplace is well known and well-visited, his family home as an adult was not preserved. Until recently, the site of the home he returned to after 20 years in London has remained as only a garden. Now, after a seven-year archaeological dig, fascinating new evidence of his life and times is revealed. Dr. Owen will also discuss the BBC’s globally televised gala presented from Stratford this April by the Royal Shakespeare Company. The WNDC is fortunate to host this program at the invitation of John Andrews of the Shakespeare Guild with the possible participation of the Princeton Club and the English Speaking Union.
Please note that lunch will be served at 12:30 to accommodate a morning event.
