Thurs, Oct 15 – Arena Stage Artistic Director Molly Smith

As the second program in our Fall Social Role of the Arts Series on the topic of Confronting Racism In and Through the Arts, Arena Stage Artistic Director Molly Smith will share how one of Washington, DC’s longest-standing theaters is embracing practices and procedures as an antiracist organization and addressing demands for improvement.

Arena has been a proponent of the “Culture of the Rehearsal Hall,” a work culture that reflects and borrows from the culture of the rehearsal hall by valuing experimentation and collaboration. This has been part of Arena’s core values for many years and in the last two years become a valuable guideline for ensuring respect, integrity, and accountability.

The next program in the series is on November 19, 2020 with Producing Artistic Director Raymond Caldwell of Theater Alliance.
