2023 Oscars Expert Preview with Ann Hornaday

Join us for an expert analysis of what the 95th Oscars, or Academy Awards, holds for the cinema of 2022. Come discuss nominations and your favorite films of the year with Ann Hornaday, the Chief Film Critic at The Washington Post – read an insight into her Oscars impressions here!

Hornaday has been a film critic at The Washington Post since 2002. She is the author of Talking Pictures: How to Watch Movies. From Des Moines, Iowa, Hornaday received a degree in Government from Smith College. After working at Ms. magazine as a researcher and editorial assistant, she became a freelance writer in New York City, eventually writing about movies for the New York Times Arts & Leisure section and other publications. Since 1995, Hornaday has been a movie critic for the Austin American-Statesman in Austin, Texas, as well as the Baltimore Sun and the Washington Post. She was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in criticism in 2008.

The bar will open at 12:00 pm, lunch will be served at 12:30, and the program will begin at 1:00.

  • In-person participation (includes lunch): $30 for members; $35 for non-members
  • In-person program only (no lunch) & Zoom only: both $10 for members & non-members
