Brooke Lierman: Maryland’s First Woman Comptroller
April 11 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Tuesday, April 11, 12:00–2:00 pm
Brooke Lierman, Maryland’s first woman Comptroller and the first woman independently elected to statewide state office in Maryland, will speak with us about a range of topics, including the path to breaking a glass ceiling in state office today and how we can break more glass ceilings. She will also answer questions such as 1) What does a Comptroller do? 2) Why did she want that position, and what does she hope to achieve there? And 3) How did she become the first woman in Maryland elected statewide for a state office? We will learn about her many responsibilities and areas of influence including receiving taxes and issuing refunds, signing off on state contracts (along with the governor), and managing the state pension fund.
Brooke Lierman is a civil rights attorney, mother of two children, a two-term State Delegate, and the Comptroller of the State of Maryland. After running a strong, policy-focused and grassroots-led two-year campaign, she was elected with over 60% of the vote in November 2022. Her website is www.brookelierman.com.
