Still the Promised Land

Dr Gandhi tells a poignant tale of achieving the American Dream and of his rise from impoverished immigrant to the Chief Financial Officer of the District of Columbia, where he was responsible for overseeing the turnaround of DC’s finances. He also speaks movingly about his journey from India to the US – an immigrant’s tale in an era of anti-immigrant rhetoric. Both Councilmember (and former Mayor) Gray and Dr Gandhi will touch upon the state of the District and highlight current successes and challenges.
