Join us on International Women’s Day for a preview of the 94th Academy Awards with Washington Post‘s Chief Film Critic Ann Hornaday. This year’s Oscars nominations have already stoked the flames of audiences, critics, and fans’ passions—hear from Hornaday on the who’s-who of nomination snubs, her expert forecast for the awards, and her take on the relevancy and importance of the Oscars going into a third of year of pandemic-impacted Hollywood. 

Hornaday has been a film critic at The Washington Post since 2002. She is the author of Talking Pictures: How to Watch Movies. From Des Moines, Iowa, Hornaday received a degree in Government from Smith College. After working at Ms. magazine as a researcher and editorial assistant, she became a freelance writer in New York City, eventually writing about movies for the New York Times Arts & Leisure section and other publications. Since 1995, Hornaday has been a movie critic for the Austin American-Statesman in Austin, Texas, as well as the Baltimore Sun and the Washington Post. She was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in criticism in 2008.
