Never has speech been freer in the United States, legally speaking, than it is today. Yet never have we had a harder time figuring out how to implement and enjoy that freedom. Ungar will discuss the exquisite dilemmas and agonizing crises over free speech on college campuses, in civil society, and in national and local politics.
Ungar, director of the Free Speech Project at Georgetown University, is president emeritus of Goucher College. Formerly, he was director of the Voice of America and dean of the School of Communication at American University. He is the author or editor of six nonfiction books.
