Andy Shallalartist, activist and award-winning social entrepreneur, will include in his presentation plans for opening in Anacostia his seventh Busboys and Poets combination of restaurant and community and progressive movements gathering place. It will be combined with a Culinary Institute to train locals in the culinary arts. Andy has won numerous awards for his business leadership in eg changing to 100% wind-power, in promoting and adopting progressive labor policies, and in the local/sustainable food movement.
Co-Founder of We Act Radio and Community Bookstore
Award-winning playwright, film-maker, commentator and activist, Kymone Freeman will focus on a plan to develop Anacostia while retaining long-time residents and small businesses. We Act Radio Station, which he co-founded, was called DC’s best Social Justice radio station by Washington City Paper in 2017. His current now-touring play, “The Night Michael Jackson Died”, was the first theatrical performance ever held at Hamilton Live.
