The mission of Georgetown University’s Laboratory for Global Performance and Politics is “to harness the power of performance to humanize global politics.” This program shows how it pursues its mission around the world, using the empathy-creating power of theater to tackle issues such as the migration and refugee crisis, Islamophobia, and Georgetown University’s relation to slavery.

Derek Goldman is the Co-Founder and Director of Lab for Global Performance and Politics, as well as Professor of Theater and Performance Studies at Georgetown University.

Devika Ranjan is a fellow at Lab for Global Performance and Politics. She is a Marshall Scholar in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies.
