“Make It Happen” is the United Nations 2015 theme for International Women’s Day, in collaboration with the Universal Peace Foundation–a time to reflect on the progress made, to call for needed changes, and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities. Speakers include:

Mrs. Hind Kabawat is a senior program officer in United States Institutes of Peace.  She is also a senior research associate in public diplomacy and director of the conflict resolution program of Syria at the Center for World Religions, Diplomacy and Conflict Resolution (CRDC) at George Mason University.

Dr. Davina P. Durgana, Senior Technical Advisor on Human Trafficking for SeraphimGLOBAL, a human trafficking expert who focuses on applying analytical models to understanding vulnerability, risk, and prevalence.

Dr. Marcia Dyson, Founder and CEO, Women’s Global Initiative

Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright selected her to be on the Women’s Global Summit Leadership Board and Zainab Al-Suwaij, the president of the American Islamic Congress, invited her to join her in Cairo, Egypt, to work with Egyptian women on creating a modern narrative for Muslim women.

Dr. Sahar Khamis: Associate Professor in the Department of Communication at the University of Maryland, College Park. She is an expert on Arab and Muslim media and the former Head of the Mass Communication and Information Science Department in Qatar University.
