October 26, 2023: Report Showcases Inflation Reduction Act Provisions To Advance US Climate Goals

As WNDC members advocate for measures to slow climate change, we need to promote and defend key provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) that support our nation’s climate goals and serve as a guide for accessing clean energy funds. The Bipartisan Policy Center makes that task easier with a report summarizing the IRA’s tax credits for clean energy and carbon management and its investments in energy innovation and sustainable communities, agriculture, and forestry.

As the report states, the law’s clean energy provisions will “accelerate the deployment of clean energy technologies, reduce global emissions, lower energy prices, help export American innovation, strengthen our economy, and build a reliable and affordable energy sector.” An August 2023 press release by the Senate Democrats documents how the law already has benefited Americans in its first year of implementation.

The nonprofit Bipartisan Policy Center, which published the report, brings together Democrats and Republicans to develop and pass durable legislation based on evidence-based research.
