Gun violence in the United States is a public health crisis. In this November 17, 2020 letter, WNDC signed, along with 86 organizations from the GVP community, to the Biden-Harris Transition Team urging immediate action on gun violence in its first 100 days in office.
”The Biden-Harris Administration has a substantial opportunity to take meaningful action to address gun violence from day one without needing to wait for Congress. What follows is a non-exhaustive list of recommendations for executive actions the administration can take to begin to address all aspects of gun violence and implement a comprehensive all-of-government approach to confronting this public health epidemic.”
The GVP Coalition under the leadership of the Center for American Progress formed a workgroup, which developed 60 “executive actions” from identifying gun violence prevention as a priority issue to implementing measures to end police violence to disarming armed white supremacists and protecting peaceful protest and voting, among others.
