Who gets remembered and who gets written out? In her vibrant new play, "It’s My Party!," playwright Ann Timmons reimagines the American women's suffrage movement as a clash of ideals, strategy, and identity. With humor and bold storytelling, she pulls back the curtain on the power struggles that shaped the final push for women’s right to vote and reveals how questions of race, class, and legacy are just as relevant today. Club members will take on the roles of key suffrage crusaders in a staged reading of excerpts from the script, followed by a lively discussion with the playwright about the real women behind the characters, the writing process, and what it takes to bring history to the stage. We are seeking six volunteers to read parts in the staged excerpts—no acting experience required! If you’re interested in participating in this fun and meaningful opportunity, please send an email to communications@democraticwoman.org. EVENT DETAILS:
